Michael Ferland is a lucky man as he has avoided a suspension for a reckless spear to the Minnesota Wild bench.
The incident happened halfway through the third period when the Wild’s Luke Kunin grabbed Ferland’s stick while on the Minnesota bench.
Ferland retaliated by spearing Wild forward Ryan Hartman in the mid-section. The two received two-minute minors during the incident.
In turn, Ferland has been handed out a $5,000 fine while Kunin, who wasn’t penalized on the play, was issued a $1,000 fine.
Game two between the two clubs is set for Tuesday night
