The Vancouver Canucks are 3-0 over their last three games after bouncing back from a Game 1 loss to the Minnesota Wild to win their qualifying round best-of-five series in four games. The Canucks hope to stay hot as they take on the St. Louis Blues in Game 1 of the first official round of the 2020 NHL postseason on Wednesday.
Vancouver is a +125 underdog on the NHL odds in Edmonton at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Blues (-145) drew this tough matchup against the Canucks after going 0-3 in the round robin of top seeds in the Western Conference.
Canucks vs Blues | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks got goals from five different players in their 5-4 win over the Minnesota Wild including the series-clinching goal from Christopher Tanev just 11 seconds into overtime. Tanev finished the night with a goal and two assists and Quinn Hughes added a goal and an assist as well, leading the team in points through the qualifying round with six (one goal and five assists). Vancouver showed a lot of heart in erasing three different Minnesota leads en route to its elimination win.
In their last 15 games against the Blues, the Canucks are just 5-10 per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Before the NHL’s regular season was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Blues had the best record in the Western Conference at 42-19-10. But after losing all three of its round robin games against the Dallas Stars, Colorado Avalanche and Vegas Golden Knights, the Blues end up seeded in this No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup against Vancouver. St. Louis was 10-2 in its last 12 games before the break.
Wednesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online sports betting sites. The UNDER is 3-1 in the last four games between St. Louis and Vancouver.
All three games between the Canucks and Blues during the regular season were close as Vancouver won in a shootout, St. Louis won in overtime, and Vancouver’s 3-1 regulation win was sealed by an empty-net goal. Vancouver has all of the momentum with three straight wins to St. Louis’ three straight losses; will this play a role in the first game of what should be a long series between these two teams?
