Elias Pettersson — the other one — apparently thinks the Sedin twins were born in the 1960s.
At least, that&#8217;s what the Canucks defence prospect seemed to indicate during a game of IIHF World Juniors trivia he played with three of his fellow Swedish national team players in a video feature for Elite Prospects.
Pettersson and Jonathan Lekkerimäki joined Axel Sandin Pellikka (Detroit Red Wings) and Noah Östlund (Buffalo Sabres) in answering a series of questions about Team Sweden and the World Juniors in general.
Upon the game&#8217;s conclusion, Pettersson ranked last with just one point — and made his teammates laugh in the process with his nonsensical answer to the final question.

Naturally, the 1981 World Juniors featured an assortment of players born no later than 1961, but that didn&#8217;t stop Pettersson from naming the Sedin twins, who did have their fair share of tremendous World Junior performances — but who were both born in 1980.
&#8220;Bro, they didn&#8217;t play in 1981,&#8221; Sandin Pellikka said to Pettersson, before bursting into a fit of laughter.
&#8220;They were like three years old,&#8221; Östlund added.
Pettersson then joined in the laughter and changed his answer to &#8220;Holmström&#8221; — although it&#8217;s unclear to which Holmströms he could&#8217;ve been referring, as former Red Wings forward Tomas Holmström never played in the World Juniors.
After the correct answer was revealed as Peter and Patrik Sundström, Lekkerimäki clued in and reacted with stifled laughter to Pettersson&#8217;s guess. Lekkerimäki finished in a tie with Sandin Pellikka for first in the trivia contest with five points.
Both Lekkerimäki and Pettersson will have plenty of opportunities to learn from the Sedins going forward. The twins currently serve as player development coaches with the Canucks organization.
Team Sweden kicked off its slate of games at the 2023 World Juniors with a 6–0 win over Team Norway on Tuesday. Lekkerimäki scored twice in the victory; Pettersson was held without a point. The host Swedes will return to action on Thursday to take on Team Germany.
