As of this lovely Monday morning, the Canucks sit 28th in the NHL and sport the worst goal differential in the league. They try their hardest, but they are not a great hockey team. But hey, at least they’re scoring goals now!
1. Daniel Sedin:
On a team that has already suffered through two lengthy goalless droughts this season, 36-year-old Daniel Sedin’s 8-game-point streak is genuinely impressive. We shouldn’t be surprised, though, because most of what he does is genuinely impressive.
2. Brandon Sutter:
Playing with the twins usually means goals and Brandon Sutter has been getting those! A four game goal scoring streak? On this team? Wow.
3. Bo Horvat:
Bo Horvat is such a gem and appears to be well on his way to becoming a short-handed wizard. Also, his go-to celebration seems to be mostly just opening his mouth really wide and yelling, which I respect.

4. Ben Hutton:
Ben Hutton has had a few hiccups this week, but the highs have been oh so high. If the Canucks average only one win every week, I hope they all end like this one did.

5. Troy Stecher:
Troy Stecher was visibly uncomfortable on After Hours when Scott Oake read a tweet that called him the Mayor of Vancouver, but lit up when his mother’s dachshund was mentioned. Stechermania is a bit much for Troy, but he’s all about the puppies.

6. Henrik Sedin:
Henrik Sedin continued to be himself this week, which is great. Here he is giving Brandon Sutter one of the softest hockey hugs I’ve ever seen.
7. Loui Eriksson:
Providing a net front presence? Nice. Scoring on the powerplay? Even nicer. Killing it in the fancy stats department? The nicest.
8. Alex Burrows:
These days, Alex Burrows is looking like vintage Alex Burrows in every way. Bless him.
9. Jacob Markstrom:
Jacob Markstrom played all three games this week and while he probably would like a couple of goals back, he also did some very good things:
10. Alex Edler:
Alex Edler is carrying the weight in the absence of Chris Tanev and has shown a few signs of wearing down. He’s also had some very nice moments this week, including a 2-point effort against Arizona. Look at those Coyotes bite.

11. Sven Baertschi:
Baertschi picked up a power play point on Saturday night and continues to be a good friend to Bo Horvat.
12. Markus Granlund:
It came in a 7-2 loss, but Markus Granlund’s 5th goal of the year was pretty sweet.
13. Luca Sbisa:
The popular take on Luca Sbisa’s season thus far is “Well, he hasn’t been as noticeably bad, right?”. He’s still Luca Sbisa but he also had two assists this week.
14. Nikita Tryamkin:
Big Nik has looked good this week, but he also broke two bones in Brad Richardson’s leg this week, which no one wants to see.
15. Erik Gudbranson:
Erik Gudbranson legitimately seems like a nice dude. He plays baseball with the equipment guys! Having said that, I’m glad Ben Hutton got out from under the bus that Gudbranson threw him under in time to score that game winner the other night.
16. Brendan Gaunce:
Brendan Gaunce and Ben Hutton have a sweet little secret handshake.

17. Michael Chaput:
Michael Chaput is going to be an answer to an obscure Canucks trivia question one day.
18. Jack Skille:
Jack Skille has yet to do something of note, but he’s out here. He’s out here.
19. Jayson Megna:
You know those people who use the phrase “Sedin Sisters” to describe the Sedin twins? Because like, being a girl means you’re weak or bad or whatever? Jayson Megna was one of those people! These tweets are from so long ago it hardly feels necessary to be annoyed about it, but Megna didn’t score a goal or anything this week, so what else are we going to say about him?
20. Alex Biega, Derek Dorsett, Jannik Hansen, Chris Tanev, Ryan Miller:
The gang of scratches is diverse this week. We’ve got healthy Biega, freshly injured Dorsett, dearly missed Hansen and Tanev, and then Ryan Miller, who as far as I understand is ready to return now.
21. Philip Larsen:
Philip Larsen is also not playing, but it’s due to a nasty virus, so he’s probably had the worst week out of anyone.
