Canucks Player Power Rankings – Nov. 30th, 2015

Nov 30, 2015, 12:00 ESTUpdated:

The final Power Rankings of November are here and they are full of surprises. The Sedins see their top spot usurped by the most talked about third-pairing defenseman in recent memory, Chris Tanev’s manners come into question, and Alex Burrows says something wholesome!
1. Luca Sbisa:
He’s controversial, he’s confident, and he’s trying his best. This week, Luca Sbisa finds himself (perhaps unintentionally) in the midst of the oddest PR campaign since Dale “What’s Twitter?” Weise’s. Luca is often criticized, and fairly so, as he is not perfect, but sometimes this criticism is taken too far. Sbisa discussed his approach to handling such comments in a recent Vancouver Sun feature and the confidence he showed is enough to bring him all the way to the top of this week’s rankings.
“I walk the dog and people stop me to say hi. I haven’t had anyone yell in my face: ‘You suck!’ I’m not comparing myself to any of the superstars. But Sidney Crosby is one of the best players, Alex Ovechkin is one of the best players, but there are still people that hate them. Sometimes when it gets too much (for me), I look at it like that.” via
2. Daniel Sedin:
While Sbisa is the subject of long conversations about criticism, skill, impact, and statistics, Daniel Sedin is being discussed with mostly Wows and Oh my goodnesses.
Another look at Hansen’s 7th, featuring a beautiful pass from Daniel Sedin, who has two points tonight.

3. Henrik Sedin:
On the ice, Henrik is doing his best impression of his younger self. Off the ice, he’s doing his best impression of the Kermit meme:
4. Jannik Hansen:
While we’re on the subject of drinking tea… Check that date.
5. Radim Vrbata:
The bad luck does indeed seem to be wearing off for Radim the Dream, who scored twice in Minnesota.
6. Jared McCann:
McCann’s play has been great and everything but most importantly look at how sweet this is:

7. Chris Tanev:
He plays hockey like a veteran, but he checks his phone at the dinner table like an impolite teenager.

8. Alex Burrows:
Burrows would top this list if I was writing cute quote power rankings.
9. Dan Hamhuis:
Wyatt Arndt brings Hamhuis up the list with perhaps the best gif of the Canucks season:
10. Alex Edler:
Despite the serious power play issues that the Canucks are having, Edler is on pace for his best season offensively since 2012. Cool!
11. Bo Horvat:
All Horvat needs is an underwear line and a few scandalous rumours and he truly will have replaced Ryan Kesler:
12. Chris Higgins:
Chris Higgins was selected to shoot in the shootout and no one was okay with it.
13. Jake Virtanen:
Jake Virtanen was publicly named a “schmelt” this week. A schmelt is defined by Urban Dictionary as “a rookie on a hockey team that everyone always hates”. Poor Jake.

14. Brandon Prust:
Prust is working the Canucks’ fourth line and their clothing line! A versatile man.
15. Yannick Weber:
Yannick falls seriously behind in the Swiss defenseman power rankings.
16. Matt Bartkowski:
He is so good at rushing they should call him Frat Bartkowski!
17. Adam Cracknell:
He is a very fun guy.
18. Derek Dorsett:
Not totally sure what Dorsett did this week but it probably wasn’t that bad or that good.
19. Sven Baertschi:
Oh, Sven.
20. Ben Hutton:
Another week, another Ben Hutton reaction .gif:

21. Jacob Markstrom:
Jacob Markstrom did not play this week, but he may play next week!
22. Brandon Sutter:
Injured Brandon Sutter just misses out on his jersey number this week.
