Let’s dive into the minor news and notes over the past 24 hours!

Following his firing from the Canucks, longtime NHL head coach Bruce Boudreau took a job with NHL Network and was a staple of the network’s playoff coverage. Boudreau’s naturally bubbly personality made him a great fit for TV, but we all knew he’d eventually find his way back to the game he loves in some capacity.

And that capacity, as it turns out, is as a Senior Adviser of the OHL’s Niagra IceDogs, where his son Ben is an associate coach.

“I am very proud, happy and excited to help the Niagara IceDogs in any way I can,” Boudreau said. “The Niagara area will always have a special place in [my] heart. I look forward to one day celebrating a Memorial Cup with the Niagara IceDogs.”

Boudreau was hired by Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini after the firing of Travis Green and Jim Benning in December 2021. The Canucks looked great under Boudreau to close out that season, but the fact that Boudreau and Canucks management weren’t on the same page became painfully clear early into the 2022-23 season. Boudreau was fired in January and subsequently replaced by Rick Tocchet.

The tough news continues for Tucker Poolman.

According to Rick Dhaliwal of Donnie and Dhali — The Team on CHEK, Poolman won’t be in attendance when the Vancouver Canucks kick off training camp in Victoria on September 20th.

“I think it’s safe to say Tucker Poolman is going on LTIR. I checked in on Tucker Poolman this morning and was told he’s not going to be at camp,” said Dhaliwal before clarifying that Poolman’s injury isn’t a concussion but a different diagnosis. “It’s not enough progress for him. You’ve got to feel for the guy.”

Poolman missed roughly half of the 2021-22 season with migraines and headaches. He hasn’t played a game for the Canucks since October 18, 2022, one of just three games he appeared in last season.

Poolman signed a four-year, $10 million contract as a free agent in 2021, and has two years remaining with the Canucks at a cap hit of $2.5 million. Poolman has tallied four points through 43 appearances with the Canucks.
