I like that Markstrom went for it. Gutsy on his part and it shows he’s mentally strong.

THE INTRO
Last night was something. Quinn Hughes goes down and Canucks Nation collectively holds its breath. Brock Boeser temporarily goes down and it feels like Black Tuesday: The Sequel. Thankfully, the Canucks will be ok and everything resets for tonight’s game against the Sharks in San Jose. The Sharks haven’t won in four games and aside from the #teamlikethat, they have the worst goal differential in the West at -17.
Not beating the Ducks will eat away at Vancouver so tonight will be a bounce-back game. And seriously, Alex Edler, that drop pass has to go.
Let’s Do This!™
WHAT ARE THE ODDS?

LINEUPS
Will Quinn Hughes play? That’s the big question. Ashton Sautner was called up so they do have a fill-in option. As for Sven Baertschi, he should play tonight and if Adam Gaudette stays wing, there are some options. Jake Virtanen sat for a while last night so don’t be surprised if he’s the whipping boy once again.
Thatcher Demko will get the start tonight. Jacob Markstrom saw the Ducks last night so he’ll get the night off.

Aaron Dell will once again face the Canucks after Martin Jones went the distance against the Jets last night in a losing effort.

GAME NOTES AND A STAT OR TWO
- The Canucks scored less than three goals for the first time last night since the shutout in New Jersey. Vancouver also lost for the first time when registering 40 shots or more. These are the stats the Canucks are dealing with right now. San Jose needs to watch out.
- Adam Gaudette’s return to the Canucks has already seen results. His goal last night was the first of the season and it took him a month last season to get his first goal so the progress is there. He needs to stay in the lineup, the Canucks are better for it.
- Tyler Myers is due to score a goal on the back end. He hasn’t scored a goal for the Canucks in the regular season yet and he has the seventh-most shots on the team. He’s getting the opportunities but the puck hasn’t been going his way like it was at the beginning of the season. Blame Hughes.
- Jake Virtanen has scored three goals this season. Of those, two of them are GWG. Jake is already making a difference so Travis Green needs to keep pushing him. Jake has the best center he could ask for in Bo Horvat and he’s getting the job done. Jake’s GF% of 66.67 is among the team leaders.
- It was a rough season for the Canucks a year ago against the Sharks. Vancouver had one win and was outscored at a rate of 2-1 over four games. Tonight, the Canucks will look to bounce back to their pre-2012 statistics against the Sharks.
#CANUCKSTWITTER
Haven't seen Virtanen on in a while.
MY 94 CENTS
Well, if Quinn Hughes isn’t in the game tonight, it’s back to Petey and Boeser shouldering the offense. Canucks are picking up points but if they’re going to badly outshoot their opponent, there should be more to show for it. The Sharks are in a bad place right now so Vancouver needs to play pissed off and they should be just fine.
AND ANOTHER THING…
Canucks fans, start paying attention to this guy… Novak, I mean:
Pavel Novak had 3+1=4, Nolan Foote had 1+3=4 and newly acquired Kobe Mohr has two assists in @Kelowna_Rockets 6-2 win over Cougars. Now 9-4-1-1 on season and 5-1-0-0 on home ice. Final shots 33-30 #Kelowna
