Canucks Army Postgame: Tank You Very Much

Mar 18, 2016, 23:52 EDTUpdated:

The Canucks met the Oilers for the third time this season, reuniting with old friends Zack Kassian, Adam Cracknell, and Adam Clendening. Unlike the first two games of the season series, this game did not need overtime. It was not a wholly terrible effort by the Canucks, but it was far from a thriller at Rexall Place.
HIGHLIGHTS
There weren’t a whole bunch, really. The game was scoreless and pretty much eventless after one. In the second, Brendan Gaunce made a nice play to get the puck up the ice and put the puck in the net, but it was called no goal. The incidental contact with the goaltender was apparently not a reviewable play, but they reviewed it anyway.
Midway through the second, Connor McDavid picked off Dan Hamhuis’ clearance and set up Jordan Eberle to make it 1-0 Oilers:
The Canucks started the third with a few strong shifts, but it wasn’t long before the Oilers scored again to make it 2-0. This would stand as the final score.

OTHER STUFF
- The list of injured Canucks grew longer tonight. Radim Vrbata left the game midway through the third with a lower body injury. It appeared to be his foot, possibly an ankle.
- The game got a little heated near the end with a scrum that saw Sven Baertschi take a roughing minor and Jared McCann leave the game with a double minor for the same.
- The Canucks hit the net 40 times tonight, and the game was not totally uninspired, but it was pretty boring overall. Nikita Tryamkin continues to intrigue – he blocked a shot with his crotch, which is unfortunate for him. Here’s a gif:
