CANUCKS ARMY PLAYOFF GDT #2 – CANUCKS VS. FLAMES

By Always90four

FLAMES LEAD CANUCKS 1-0 IN SERIES.
Turn down for what? The Flames? To be honest, I’ve only heard that one line and I would assume Lil’ Jon says “O-KAAAAAY!” at some point too (editor’s note: he doesn’t). So now you know two things: The Canucks are down 1-0 in their series against the Flames and I am not well versed in throat rapping by Lil’ Jon.
We all have some thoughts about that first game. For me, mainly the Canucks played pretty well overall but scoring ONE goal isn’t going to cut it. The goalies will easily be a big factor every game and it’s going to take more than one Bo Horvat ricochet to beat the Flames four times. I hate to say it, but Calgary doesn’t look that bad, the Canucks are going to have to really work now.

If you think Ryan Miller should start this game, you’re an idiot. Eddie Lack was spectacular despite some bad positioning after first saves. Looks like the same lineup overall from Game 1. Ryan Stanton practiced as Juice had one day off on Thursday, but it probably won’t be more. Ronalds Kenins is in for sure.

Jonas Hiller will start because he is a boss. He deserved the win his team stole for him for sure. If I’m Kris Russell, I take the night off. By the end of this series, his body will look like a twister mat at this rate. How hurt is Sean Monahan, and will Mason Raymond ever play? We’ll know soon enough.
REASONS TO WATCH THIS PLAYOFF GAME
- The Canucks lost Game 1, and do you really have something else to do tonight? Time to tie this one up. Now they know what they face.
- Ronalds Kenins will play. He did 3-4 murders last game and his hit list will soon rival that of Dominic Torreto. Actually, Torreto only killed that guy at the race track, so how about Rambo? Rambo did murders.
- Nick Bonino has been an adventure when he steps on and off the ice. Either NO ONE ever taught him how to properly line change or he legitimately has some kind of depth perception issue of where the bench actually is. Either way, getting back into a routine of two many men penalties is not something that works.
- Is Bo Horvat the best thing ever? Well no, but this kid is built to play big games. I would love to see Bo excel through this round and the next…and the next. And the one after that too. Also, lets cool it on the obvious puns for him and Higgy. Vey’s been done to death as well but I doubt he factors in and scores any time soon.
- Henrik Sedin won EVERY faceoff in Game 1. I am just a lying machine today. He actually went 15-4 for 78.9% which is UNREAL!!! How we didn’t score more goals off those wins is stunning. Henrik hopefully has that magic again tonight and can translate into some goals.
- The success of the Sedins didn’t get full marks on Wednesday but if Willie tweaks his PP a bit more to cater to either Vrbata or Weber, Henrik and Daniel’s work will not be in vain.

- You have to think Burkie would have fit in there.
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
MY TAKE
Seeing the game end like it did in Game 1 was not surprising. You let a team like Calgary hang around and claw back and they will make you pay. Not letting the first goal of the game in was nice but the lead didn’t hold up. Willie D had things rolling pretty nicely with no matching lines, but I think he will have to adjust slightly to give the Sedins more ice time this game. I can’t see THESE Canucks dropping two at home, so in light of last game, I’m calling 3-1 Canucks. Daniel Sedin shines and pots his first goal of the series.
