Drake’s concert at Rogers Arena, initially scheduled for Monday night, has been moved to Wednesday, August 30th, due to “unforeseen circumstances with the newly-installed videoboard at Rogers Arena”.

Rogers Arena put out the following statement less than two hours before doors to the concert were set to open at 8 PM:

The Canucks announced phase two of their renovations to Rogers Arena late last week. This included new boards, glass, dashers, penalty boxes, and benches for the upcoming season. A 60-person restaurant is under construction at ice level between the dressing rooms which will give those fans a chance to watch the Canucks and visiting teams make their way from the dressing room to the ice.

In addition, the Canucks announced their brand new videoboard, which is almost four times larger than the previous screen. The new video board sounds impressive, with a high refresh rate of 3840Hz and a stronger contrast ratio that will result in a clearer image and more vibrant colours. The new videoboard is also curved, allowing fans to view the screen better from all angles in the arena. The videoboard is certainly a welcome addition to the rink, but we don’t think Drake fans want to hear that tonight.

“Imagine traveling from the island only to find out hours before the concert, it’s been cancelled. Oooof,” wrote one Twitter user.

Drake is in town for his “It’s All A Blur” tour, with shows that were initially planned for Monday, August 28, and Tuesday, August 29, at Rogers Arena.
