Welcome back to Betway Bets of the Day brought to you by NHL betting odds site Betway!
The Vancouver Canucks are set to open 2024 as the top dog in the Western conference standings, something that not even the biggest of optimists would have thought at the start of 2023.
The Canucks watched their season-high nine-game point streak end in a 4-1 home loss to the Philadelphia Flyers, who have owned Vancouver this season, sweeping the season series 2-0 and outscoring them 6-1 in that span.
The team will look to rebound as they close out a three game homestand against the Ottawa Senators. Here are three bets I like for tonight’s game.
Player Prop
Elias Pettersson to register over 2.5 shots at -175. My $12.50 bet would return $19.76,
Vancouver has started to utilize Pettersson’s one-timer more on the power-play and this has obviously correlated to a rise in shot attempts for Pettersson as he’s registered over 2.5 shots in four of his last six games.
This is a perfect spot for him to continue that stretch as Ottawa is a bottom ten defensive team in the league, put a full unit on this play.
Player Prop
JT Miller to register a power-play point at +140. My $10 bet would return $24.
Yes, the Canucks have struggled on the power-play of late but this line to me is a bit off. Miller ranks sixth in the entire NHL in power-play points in a matchup with an Ottawa team that’s dead last in the NHL on the penalty-kill at heavy plus money is shocking.
Take this play at .8 units.
Player Prop
Elias Pettersson to register two or more points at +155. My $10 bet would return $15.50.
We’re going with a straight sweep of Canucks player props. Pettersson has absolutely dominated Ottawa throughout his career scoring 18 points in 12 games, including a three point effort against the team earlier this season.
Take this play at .8 units too.
Last Game Bets
Brady Tkachuk to register over 4.5 shots at +120. My $10 bet would return $22. – MISSED
Brayden Point to score anytime at +130. My $10 bet would return $23. – HIT
Connor McDavid to score anytime at -106. My $12.50 bet would return $24.37. – MISSED
Not a great day, we staked $32.50 and returned $23. We are now up $158.94 on the season.
