On Tuesday’s episode of Canucks Conversation, Chris Faber and David Quadrelli talked about Arturs Silovs’ continued success, Andrei Kuzmenko’s likability, and more!
They also talked about NCAA free agency, as NCAA hockey seasons are beginning to come to a close, meaning that players eligible for free agency will soon be able to sign with NHL organizations.
As Faber’s previously reported, the Canucks are in on right shot defenceman Jake Livingstone, who is expected to garner more NHL interest than any other NCAA free agent. According to Faber, there’s mutual interest between the Canucks and the Creston, BC native.
But it’s not just Livingstone. Sam Malinksi and Akito Hirose are two other names that have been linked to the Canucks. Hirose is Livingstone’s defence partner at Minnesota State University. Both Hirose and Livingstone played their junior hockey in the British Columbia Hockey League, Hirose with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and Livingstone with the Langley Rivermen.
As for Sam Malinski, he’s a right shot defenceman who’s also expected to garner plenty of interest from NHL teams, and as mentioned, the Canucks are reportedly interested in him. Through 29 games with Cornell, the 5’11 Malinski has tallied eight goals and 17 assists.
Another name to keep an eye on is Jacob Bengtsson, a left shot Swedish defenceman playing with Lake Superior University. Hear more about all four of these players from Faber in the video below!
