Vancouver Canucks re-sign Travis Hamonic to two-year contract extension

2 years agoTravis Hamonic will be sticking with the Vancouver Canucks after all.
As first reported by Rick Dhaliwal this morning, Hamonic has re-signed to a two-year contract extension with an AAV of $3-million.
Last season was his first in Vancouver and he played in 38 games for the Canucks scoring three goals and 10 points.
Hamonic struggled last season with the Canucks and at even-strength, his WAR put him in the 28th and 23rd percentile, respectively.
The deal keeps him locked in Vancouver for two more years and it’s a confusing one for the organization, doubly so considering the large deal also handed out to Tucker Poolman given they both play a similar style of hockey.
Hamonic, 30, was selected by the New York Islanders in the 2nd round of the 2008 draft and has appeared in 675 NHL games with the Islanders, Calgary Flames and Canucks. He’s scored 40 goals and 198 points in that time.
