The Vancouver Canucks’ new management regime has made their greatest acquisition yet.
On Friday, the club announced the hiring of CanucksArmy’s Chris Faber as a senior hockey writer.
Here’s what the Canucks said in their statement:
The Vancouver Canucks today announced that respected hockey journalist, Chris Faber, will join the organization on November 6, 2023, becoming the team’s first Senior Hockey Writer. An exceptional and enthusiastic storyteller, Chris has created a significant following since his founding of the Canucks Conversation podcast in 2018, followed quickly by joining Canucks Army in 2019 as senior writer and senior content creator.
Most significantly, Chris has demonstrated great passion for the Canucks development system, many times being the only reporter committed to the Abbotsford Canucks while constantly sharing updates from our prospects around the world. His passion runs so deep that he is currently learning Swedish.
Chris will be afforded unique insider access to our hockey operations team, working closely with our entire organization to capture and share compelling stories of interest to our fans.
“Chris’ enthusiasm for this role, coupled with his understanding of the types of stories that he believes our fans are looking for, make him a perfect complement to our team,” said Michael Doyle, President, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, Business Operations. “Our audiences are diverse, at different points in their hockey journey, and looking to learn more about our players, our prospects and how you build a winning organization. Chris is a sports journalism swiss-army knife, capable of so many different things; and with this addition, we are going to help all our fans get even closer to their team.”
Faber joins Kate Pettersen and Lindsey Horsting in connecting directly with our fans.
Faber has spent the last four years writing at CanucksArmy and, after creating Canucks Conversation in 2018, has been hosting the show alongside me (David Quadrelli) since 2020.
“I am extremely excited about my new role with the Vancouver Canucks,” said Faber. “This role will allow me to continue doing what I love to do, and that’s inform fans about the Canucks and their prospects. I am very excited for what’s to come and would like to thank Canucks management for their belief in me as a content creator. I’d also like to thank my dear friend David Quadrelli, who helped build Canucks Conversation and CanucksArmy into what they are today. There’s a great team assembled here at CA and I’ll miss the crew as well as a lot of you in the comments. I’ve got some awesome projects to tackle with the Canucks and I’m excited to get started there next week.”
We will miss Faber’s contributions and I personally will miss seeing him every day when we do Canucks Conversation. I’m equally excited about the new cohost we’re adding to the show, and you’ll find out more details about that next week.
