Utica Comets Recall Danny Moynihan From Kalamazoo
By Cory Hergott
6 years agoWith Reid Boucher and Nikolay Goldobin currently plying their trade in Vancouver, and with Jayson Megna and Brendan Woods sustaining injuries in yesterday’s game vs the Marlies, the Comets have summoned Danny Moynihan from Kalamazoo of the ECHL.
Ben Birnell of the Utica Observer-Dispatch, as always, had a keen eye on the AHL transaction page and had the scoop on the Moynihan recall.
Moments later, the Comets confirmed the recall.
This will be Moynihan’s second stint with the Comets this season. In three games this year with the Comets, Moynihan has been held pointless. He does have 14 points in 16 games this season off of eight goals and six assists with the Kalamazoo Wings.
The shorthanded Comets left it all on the ice yesterday in their gritty 5-2 win over the powerhouse Marlies. They will have their hands full trying to repeat that effort on Friday when the Marlies will likely turn to Garret Sparks in goal. Sparks is sporting a sparkling 1.64 goals against average and an impressive 0.943 save percentage. Without two of their top three scorers, look for the Comets to try to come up with another gritty effort on Friday.
The two teams are back in action tomorrow at 4:00 pm Pacific. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
