Oilers vs Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report
Elias Pettersson followed up his two-goal performance against the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday with a goal and an assist on Tuesday night against the Oilers, helping the Canucks jump out to a 3-1 lead in the first period. But for the second straight game, Vancouver wasn’t able to convert a two-goal lead heading into the first intermission into a win, this time collapsing in the third period to lose 4-3 in regulation. Thatcher Demko allowed four goals on 29 shots in the loss and fell to 4-8-1 with a 3.37 goals-against average and an .898 save percentage.
The Canucks are now 8-13-2 on the season and 2-8-2 over their last 12 games per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Leon Draisaitl racked up three assists and Dominik Kahun scored two goals in Edmonton’s comeback win on Tuesday. Veteran goaltender Mike Smith improved to 5-0 on the season for the Oilers with a 2.05 goals-against average and a .934 save percentage. Edmonton is 10-2 over its last 12 games and has allowed only two goals per game over its current 7-1 streak. The Oilers have had plenty of success in the offensive zone during the Connor McDavid era, but improved play in the defensive zone could lead to postseason success in 2021.
Thursday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at sports betting sites. The OVER is 4-2 in Vancouver’s last six games against Edmonton.
Last season, the Canucks went 5-7-3 in November before turning their season around with a hot streak in December. Vancouver wraps up what has been a dismal month of February on Thursday and will be hoping for a similar turnaround in March. Giving up less than four goals per game would be a good place to start.
