The Canucks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period over the Winnipeg Jets on Sunday night, but that lead eventually melted away and resulted in a 4-3 loss in overtime. This marked the second time over the team’s last four games that Vancouver managed to force overtime with a late goal only to lose less than a minute into the extra period. Braden Holtby was saddled with the loss after allowing four goals on 31 shots. The Canucks’ goaltender now sports a 4-5-1 record with a 3.51 goals-against average and an .893 save percentage.
Since going 8-0 in their previous eight games as a home underdog, the Canucks are just 4-8 on the moneyline in their last eight instances as one per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Connor McDavid scored a natural hat trick and added two assists in Edmonton’s 7-1 blowout win over the Calgary Flames on Saturday night. The Oilers have shaken off a slow 3-6-0 start to go 9-2-0 over their last 11 games, surging into second place behind the Toronto Maple Leafs in the North Division.
