The Stanley Cup Playoffs are in full swing, with Round two already underway. After a dramatic conclusion to Round 1, which saw the Dallas Stars clinch a thrilling victory over the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 7, the league wasted no time in announcing the schedule for the next round.
For the Vancouver Canucks, the spotlight now shifts to their highly anticipated series against the Edmonton Oilers. The action kicks off at Rogers Arena on Wednesday, with puck drop scheduled for 7 PM.
Game 2 follows swiftly on Friday, May 10th, continuing the excitement with another 7 PM puck drop in Vancouver. The intensity then shifts gears as the series heads to Edmonton for Game 3 on Sunday, May 12th. Canucks supporters are anticipated to travel in droves to support their team in enemy territory, so we could see a hint of blue and green in the sea of orange. Game 4 will also be in Edmonton on Tuesday, May 14th, with the puck drop time yet to be determined.
Should the series extend beyond four games, the teams will continue battling for supremacy with Game 5 scheduled for Thursday, May 16th, back in Vancouver. The possibility of a Game 6 looms large, set to take place on Saturday, May 18th, in Edmonton. Fans had already been vocal about there not being a Saturday game throughout the first 4 contests of this series, so they may get their wish.
And if the series goes all the way, Game 7 will bring the drama back to Vancouver on Monday, May 20th. As the only remaining Canadian teams in the playoff bracket, both the Canucks and Oilers carry the hopes and dreams of their nation on their shoulders.
Fans can expect quite the atmosphere throughout the series as the two fan bases have already gone back and forth on social media.
The Oilers enter Round 2 following a convincing victory over the Los Angeles Kings in just five games, led by their skilled offensive unit. Meanwhile, the Canucks emerged triumphant in a thrilling six-game series against the Nashville Predators while battling adversity between the pipes.
