NHL History: Sedins announce their retirement

It was on this day back in 2018 that Daniel and Henrik Sedin officially announced that they would be retiring from hockey at the conclusion of the 2017-18 NHL season.
In a letter released to fans with only three games left on the season, the Sedins officially announced that the 2017-18 season would be their last, and that it was the right time to step away and be with their families.
“We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the post-season. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season. This feels right for all of us.”
Filled with all of the emotion that comes with the end of a 17-year career, the Sedins, as expected, wanted to say farewell to the fans in the only way they knew how — by enjoying their final games with the fans.
“We’re saying it now because we want to share these final three games with you. We also want to share these games with our families, friends, teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and everyone at the Canucks who have supported us. You’ve all been with us every step of the way, and we want to thank you.”
With more than 2100 points combined, the Sedins will go down as legends in Vancouver and rightfully so. From their dominance as a duo on the ice to their endless work in the community, the twins were shining stars for the franchise and will be missed for a long, long time.
