A total of nine new cases of COVID-19 have been found in NHL players, the league said Monday.
Through 2,900 tests conducted as of Monday on 396 players that have participated in phase two, the league says 23 cases of COVID-19 have been identified — an increase of eight since the league’s last batch of testing announced on June 29th.
Outside of the phase two protocol, the league says one new case of COVID-19 has been identified in a player.
The NHL and its teams will not be identifying players who test positive without approval from the NHL or NHLPA.
