The Vancouver Canucks are 3-0-1 in their last four games against the Los Angeles Kings. The Canucks hope to extend their points streak against the Kings to five games with a win on Wednesday night at home.
Vancouver is a -150 home favourite on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Jacob Markstrom is projected to get the start for the home team against Jonathan Quick and the Kings as +130 road underdogs.

Kings at Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Canucks’ slow start on offence this season continued on Saturday in a 3-0 loss to the Calgary Flames. After being held to only two goals on 33 shots in a 3-2 loss to the Edmonton Oilers last Wednesday, Vancouver failed to score on any of its 34 shots against the Flames. Vancouver ranked 25th in the NHL in scoring last season with 2.67 goals per game; if this year’s squad hopes to live up to its preseason hype and snap the franchise’s four-year playoff drought, they need to figure something out on offence.
With their 0-2 start against divisional foes, the Canucks are now 2-8 in their last 10 games against Pacific Division teams per the OddsShark NHL Database.
It’s only been two games, but the days of the Kings being a defence-first team appear to be in the distant past. Los Angeles traded haymakers in a 6-5 loss to the Edmonton Oilers last Saturday and defeated the Calgary Flames 4-3 in overtime as +195 underdogs on Tuesday night. Los Angeles actually performed well on the second night of a back-to-back last season with a 4-2 record in their last six times doing so.
Wednesday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The OVER is 5-1 in Los Angeles’s last six games.
A game against Jonathan Quick and the Kings’ porous defence could be just what the doctor ordered for Vancouver’s slumping offence. Quick had the worst season of his career last year with a 3.38 GAA and a .888 save percentage; and after giving up five goals in his first game of 2019, it looks like this season might be more of the same for the veteran netminder.
