The Utica Comets made a couple of roster moves today. With Nikolay Goldobin recently summoned to Vancouver on a recall, the Comets needed to add another forward.
Danny Moynihan, who currently leads the Kalamazoo Wings with eight goals and six assists for 14 points in 12 games this season, and has an AHL deal with the Comets was recalled today. Last season Moynihan was with then Comets affiliate, the Alaska Aces. While with the Aces, Moynihan put up 22 goals and 30 assists, for 50 points in 71 games.
The other move made by the Comets was the release of Joe Faust from his PTO. The Comets signed Faust to his PTO just last Tuesday in order to make up for the losses of Evan McEneny, Ashton Sautner, and Jaime Sifers to injury and Philip Hom to a recall. Holm has since been returned from Vancouver and it appears that Sautner may be close to returning. Faust, for his part, played in two games for Utica and picked up an assist along the way.
With the Utica blueline getting healthier, it will be interesting to see how Comets head coach Trent Cull deploys his players. Rookies Jalen Chatfield and Guillaume Brisebois have done a nice job in stepping up with minute munchers McEneny and Sautner out. Anton Cederholm has also shown fairly well in his time with the Comets this season.
The Comets are back in action this Wednesday when they take on the Rochester Americans at 4:00 pm Pacific. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report.
