Comets Get Chaput Back From Canucks
By Cory Hergott
6 years agoThe Utica Comets are getting some roster reinforcement in the way of Michael Chaput. The Comets announced today that they would be getting Chaput back from the parent Vancouver Canucks.
Chaput was recalled by the Canucks on December seventh and has played in three games with Vancouver since then. The Comets third-leading scorer did not pick up any points while with the Canucks this time around. Chaput has been one of the Comets better players this season, picking up eight goals and seven assists, good for 15 points this season in Utica. Chaput has been the Comets first line center for a good portion of the season and logs big minutes, playing on the power-play and penalty-killing units for Trent Cull. Chaput has also been wearing an “A” on his jersey for the bulk of the season as well.
It is unclear at this time if Chaput will be playing today, additionally, Ben Birnell of the Utica Observer-Dispatch has reported that Cam Darcy is banged up and is day to day. It is possible that one or both of Chaput and Darcy will be in the lineup today. If neither man is available, Trent Cull will have all three of Brady Brassart, Tony Cameranesi, and Joel Lowry in his lineup today. All three men are currently in Utica on pro try-out contracts and had been playing this season in the ECHL.
The Comets are back in action today to take on the Toronto Marlies at 4:00 pm Pacific. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
