It’s a new week, and there’s a new host. TSN’s Jon Abbott is in Buffalo to cover the World Junior Hockey Championship, so this week it was TSN 1040’s Karen Surman who stepped in and was excellent alongside CanucksArmy’s J.D. Burke.
As always, there was a lot to discuss. The injuries keep on mounting, and the losses are starting to follow. This show aired on Saturday, though, so a lot of the discussion centred around the Canucks thrilling 4-3 win in overtime over the visiting San Jose Sharks.
In the second segment of the show, Burke and Surman are joined by Hockey Prospect Radio’s Shane Malloy to talk about the Team Canada roster for the World Junior Hockey Championship. Malloy argues that Canada left behind a lot of talent for this year’s tournament, and our hosts tend to agree.
The next segment, The Athletic Calgary’s Kent Wilson joins the show to talk about the ongoing arena saga in Calgary, and his piece on the topic specifically. It’s a great discussion for those who are new to the topic, and I’d encourage everyone give it a read.
Lastly, our intrepid hosts talk about what to do when Erik Gudbranson returns to the lineup. Who sits? Then CanucksArmy’s Jeremy Davis recaps the Utica Comets adventures since we last spoke and offered his opinions on the Canucks prospects at the World Junior tournament.
