Canucks vs Maple Leafs | OddsShark Matchup Report
The odds were stacked against the Canucks on Thursday night as they were playing their third game in four nights and their second straight road game. Vancouver looked the part of a tired team in its 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs, mustering up only 16 shots against Toronto’s backup goaltender David Rittich en route to a 4-1 loss. J.T. Miller scored the lone goal in the defeat for his 34th point of the season, second only to Brock Boeser who leads the team with 37 points (17 goals and 20 assists) in 2021.
With Thursday’s loss, the Canucks fell to 0-11 in their last 11 road games against the Maple Leafs. Vancouver’s last win in Toronto came all the way back in December of 2011.
Auston Matthews extended his goal-scoring lead over the rest of the NHL with his 36th goal of the season as the Maple Leafs rolled to their third straight 4-1 win. All of Toronto’s struggles this year have been condensed into two slumps; a 1-6 skid back in early March and an 0-3-2 stretch during the middle of April. Outside of those two runs, the Maple Leafs are 31-4-3 across their other 38 games this season.
Saturday night’s total is set at six goals at betting sites. The UNDER is 4-2 in Toronto’s last six home games (how the OVER/UNDER works).
This will be Vancouver’s last game against the Maple Leafs this season barring a surprising trip to the postseason. The Canucks currently have 12 games remaining on their schedule that they are expected to play over the next three weeks. With a 12-point gap between the Montreal Canadiens in fourth place in the North Division and the Canucks in last, it could be hard for Vancouver to find much motivation during this grueling stretch.
