The Vancouver Canucks are a perfect 4-0 over their last four games. The Canucks can extend their winning streak to five straight games with another win over the St. Louis Blues on Friday night in Edmonton.
Vancouver is a +125 underdog on the NHL odds for Game 2 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Blues are going off at -145 to even up the series, the same price they closed at in Game 1.
Canucks vs Blues | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Canucks never trailed in the first game of their best-of-seven series against the St. Louis Blues, surrendering one-goal leads in the first and second period before outscoring the Blues 3-0 in the third to pull away with a 5-2 upset win. Bo Horvat continued his impressive postseason with two goals in the victory; he has now tallied four goals and two assists through the team’s first five playoff games. Jacob Markstrom had another strong game in goal as well stopping 29 of the 31 shots that he faced.
With their win in Game 1, the Canucks are now 5-2 on the moneyline in their last seven games against the Blues per the OddsShark NHL Database.
St. Louis is still looking for its first win since the NHL’s return after falling to 0-3-1 with this loss to Vancouver. The Blues outshot the Canucks 31 to 22 in Game 1, but Jordan Binnington surrendered five goals on those 22 shots as St. Louis’ penalty kill allowed three goals on six Vancouver power plays. The Blues have now scored two goals or less in three of their last four games after averaging 3.14 goals per game during the regular season.
Friday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals at online betting sites. The OVER is 3-1 in Vancouver’s last four games.
It’s difficult to imagine that the defending Stanley Cup champions won’t find their rhythm at some point in this series. With that in mind, the Canucks would love to keep this wave of momentum going as long as possible. Vancouver’s four straight wins and St. Louis’s four straight losses have to be having an impact on the confidence of both teams, and another Canucks upset in Game 2 would really put St. Louis on its heels.
