Canucks at Panthers | OddsShark Matchup Report

The Canucks had their seven-game winning streak snapped in dramatic fashion on Tuesday night in a 9-2 blowout loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. While the lopsided loss itself can be chalked up to a bad night (or more specifically a bad period as the team allowed six goals in the second) against a very good team, it does highlight a troubling trend for the Canucks in 2019-20. Vancouver has won six straight at home and has one of the league’s best home records at 14-5-3, but has been held back by an underwhelming 9-11-1 record on the road.
In their last 13 games against opponents in the Atlantic Division, the Canucks are 10-3 on the moneyline per the OddsShark NHL Database.
Sergei Bobrovsky was finally looking like his old self through his first six games in December, recording a 1.69 goals-against average and a .953 save percentage over that stretch. But over his last six games, Bobrovsky’s GAA has ballooned back up to 4.63 with a save percentage of just .856. The Panthers have the fifth best offence in the NHL averaging 3.49 goals per game, but their big investment in goaltending this offseason has been a dud, leaving Florida on the outside looking in for a playoff spot at the moment with a 22-16-5 record.
Thursday night’s total is set at 6.5 goals at sports betting sites. The OVER is 5-0 in Florida’s last five games at home.
With four more road games remaining on this five-game road trip, the Canucks would love to shake off their loss in Vancouver with a win against Florida on Thursday night. There could be plenty of fireworks in this one as both of these offences have been playing well in recent weeks.
