Another week gone by, and another week of action for our Canucks prospects.  All the leagues are under way and all NCAA schools have been playing real games against other NCAA schools.  There’s plenty of good news coming out of Kalamazoo, where it is rare you get to be excited about an ECHL player.

  • Cole Cassels played a “mediocre” week only scoring
    at a rate of 1 PPG over 2 games combined with 7 PIMs.
  • Jared McCann played in 2 games scoring 1 goal,
    earning a -4 and 2 PIM.  He is looking to be more productive this year in the Soo.
  • Jordan Subban played 4 games, scoring 3 goals, including the highlight reel goal above,
    and 1 assist and earning 8 PIM.
  • Evan McEneny played 3 games were he scored 7
    assists and earned 6 PIM.
  • Kyle Petit played 2 games and earned a -2.
  • Miles Liberati played 3 games and earned a +3.
  • Side OHL story, Sudbury’s head coach Paul Fixter
    was fined$7,500 for telling a reporter what to do.

    week.  Virtanen’s shoulder is looking just fine.

  • Penn State played in two games against Bentley
    winning 3-2 in both games.  They have the
    next week off.  Mike Williamson played in 1
    game, notching 1 shot and earning 2 PIM.
  • The University of Maine beat Massachusetts 6-5 in
    OT and 3-2 this week.  This week Maine
    will be playing Vermont on the 7th and the 8th.  Ben Hutton played in both games earning 1 assist,
    5 SOG and a +1.
  • No games for University of Wisconsin and Joe LaBate this last
    week, they will play North Dakota on the 7th and 8th.
  • Harvard played their first game tying Dartmouth
    3-3 and will play three games this week: on the 7th @ Rensselaer,
    the 8th @ Union and the 11th @ Boston College vs Thatcher Demko.  Patrick McNally scored 2 goals on 5 shots in his
    first game of the season, earning a +2.
  • Yale played two games tying Princeton 2-2 and
    beat Connecticut 2-1.  Yale will play at
    home on Friday and Saturday vs Clarkson and St Lawrence.  Matt Beattie played in 2 games earning a -1 and 3
    SOG.

      against draft-eligible top-prospect Jack Eichel and then on the 11th
      vs Harvard.  Demko stopped 25 of 26, 33
      of 35, and 21 of 22 shots in his three most recent outings. 
      Demko continues to raise his Sv% up to .932.

    • Kalamazoo won 3-1 at Fort Wayne, then lost
      4-5 vs Fort Wayne the next night.  The
      next week sees Elmira in Kalamazoo on Friday and Saturday and then on Wednesday
      K-Zoo goes off to Fort Wayne once again.  K-Zoo will
      be having a Military Appreciation Jersey night with some very
      ugly jerseys
      .
    • Curtis Valk played in 2 games scoring 1 goal and
      1 assist and put up 6 shots on goals. 
      Valk continues to impress and leads the KWings in
      scoring
      and won the ECHL Player
      of the Month
      .  I would bet he is the
      first call-up to Utica this year.
    • Ludwig Blomstrand played 2 games earning 1
      assist and 3 SOG.
    • Dane Fox did not play as he was injured and on
      the reserved list for reasons that have not been disclosed.
    • Alex Mallet played 2 games scoring 1 goal and 2
      assists, with a +2, 5 SOG and 4 PIM.
    • Fellow Comets related KWing players leading in
      points are: Guimond (8), Kattelus (7), Longpre (6), Scheidl (5), Kaunisto (4),
      Negrin (3), Lafranchise (2), Blain (1).
    • Patrick Kennedy leads Evansville with 4 goals
      and 3 assists in 5 games.
