Today, Vancouver Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin announced the club’s human performance staff for the 2022-23 season, which includes three new hires.
The Canucks have added Dr. Harry Sese as a health and performance consultant, athletic therapist Josh Termeer, and performance therapist Dr. Erik Yuill.
Earlier this offseason, the Canucks dismissed director of medical services and head athletic therapist Jon Sanderson, longtime director of strength and conditioning Roger Takahashi, and assistant athletic therapist — plus occasional practice goalie — Dave Zarn.
Dr. Sese — who goes by @thegolfingdoc on Instagram — has a background in — you guessed it — golf.
Sese has served as a medical director and golf performance specialist for PGA Tour players at GOLFLETICA Sports and Rehab in Bellevue, Washington for over ten years.
Josh Termeer served as the head athletic therapist of the Canadian Football League’s Calgary Stampeders for over six years, and was the club’s assistant athletic therapist for two years prior to that.
Dr. Yuill has served as a team chiropractor for the Vancouver Whitecaps of Major League Soccer and the Aquilini-owned Vancouver Warriors of the National Lacrosse League, and has worked with athletes from the NBA, NHL, CFL, and MLB as well.
Yuill also enjoyed great success as a national-level competitive swimmer himself. He was the head coach of the Queens University varsity swim team before pursuing his chiropractic career, and has also worked with the Simon Fraser University varsity swim team as their team therapist.
In a written statement, the Canucks added the following:
The club has also retained Graeme Poole (Rehab Therapist), Rebecca White (Wellness Therapist), and Alex Hodgins (Mental Performance Consultant).
In his role of Health & Performance Consultant, Dr. Sese will also join and oversee the Strength & Conditioning division, which includes the new addition of Mark Cesari (Strength & Conditioning Coach) and a retained staff member in Bryan Marshall (Director of Applied Sports Science).
The club’s full human performance staff will look as follows next season:
Medical Division:
Dr. Harry Sese (Health & Performance Consultant)
Graeme Poole (Rehab Therapist)
Rebecca White (Wellness Therapist)
Josh Termeer (Athletic Therapist)
Dr. Erik Yuill (Performance Therapist)
Alex Hodgins (Mental Performance Consultant)
Strength & Conditioning Division:
Dr. Harry Sese (Health & Performance Consultant)
Bryan Marshall (Director of Applied Sports Science)
Mark Cesari (Strength & Conditioning Coach)
Earlier today, the Canucks also announced the hiring of Marko Torenius as their new AHL goaltending coach.
