The Vancouver Canucks improved to 6-2 over their last eight games with their win over the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday night. The Canucks can eliminate the defending champions with one more win on Friday night in Edmonton.
Vancouver is a +115 underdog on the NHL odds for Game 6 at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Blues (-135) have been favored in every game in this series despite being just 2-6 since the NHL’s return in August.

The Blues looked to be well on their way to a 3-2 series lead when they took a 3-1 lead 5:51 into the second period of Game 5. But Jacob Markstrom wouldn’t give up another goal for the rest of the game, and the Canucks fought back to score three goals in the second period and to hold on for a 4-3 victory over the Blues. After going without a point in Vancouver’s first eight postseason games, Tyler Motte played the role of hero in Game 5 with a shorthanded goal in the first period and the game-winning goal in the second period.
The Canucks are 5-3 on the moneyline in eight games against St. Louis this season per the OddsShark NHL Database.
St. Louis had all of the momentum after winning two straight games and taking the early lead in Game 5. But suddenly, the defending champions are facing elimination and are without two of their key players in Alex Steen and Vladimir Tarasenko. Worse yet, they’ve got a tricky decision to make for Game 6; do they stick with Jake Allen (who is no longer hot after allowing four goals in Game 5) or return to struggling starter Jordan Binnington for this elimination game?
Friday night’s total is set at five goals at online betting sites. The OVER is 4-2 in Vancouver’s last six games.
Vancouver avoided a series-deciding Game 5 against the Minnesota Wild by winning Game 4 in a 5-4 thriller earlier this month. Now the Canucks will try to do the same against a St. Louis Blues team that went 3-0 in elimination games during its Stanley Cup run in 2019. With Jake Allen finally solved, the Canucks have to like their chances regardless of who starts for the Blues.
