We’re back with another week of Canucks Army Weekly Prospect updates!  We finally saw those lazy students down in the Ivy Leagues start playing hockey, meaning officially, for the first time in the 2015/2016 season, all of Vancouver’s prospects have actually started playing regular season games.
So how are they doing?

  • Another exciting week for Carl Neill, who played in two games earning three assists, a +2 rating, along with taking a penalty and six shots on goal.
  • Dimitry Zhukenov had another productive week scoring three assists in as many games though he only took one shot on net. He also took a penalty and was a -1.
  • Tate Olson is still injured and has not played in the past week.
  • After a hot start to the year, Kyle Pettit has been buried and become quite cold.  In the past week, he played two games and earned an assist, a +1 rating and took two penalties. Pettit also put five shots on net in those games.
  • An above average week for Guillaume Brisebois who skated in three games, scored a goal, was a +8, and had five of his shots hit the net.

  • The University of North Dakota played another two games this week winning 5-2 and 2-0 against Colorado College.  Brock Boeser had a quieter week only scoring one goal (slacker), earning six shots on net, a +2 rating, along with taking a penalty. It sure doesn’t hurt that UND is ranked the number one team in the NCAA at the moment.
  • Northeastern played a pair of games this week losing 2-3 and tieing 3-3 against Vermont and Boston University respectively. In these two games Adam Gaudette scored his first NCAA goal, earned two shots on net, and was a -1.
  • Penn State played a pair of games this week, but Mike Williamson didn’t play in either one.
  • Yale had a pair of wins over the weekend, their first games of the year but Matthew Beattie was not seen in either game. So yeah, we’re still one prospect short.

Thatcher DemkoG95-12-0819Boston College7418:35:0061671610.9640.866-1-04
Thatcher Demko now has his fourth shutout on the year and he is posting a .964 save percentage.  He is officially the best goaltender in college hockey, both by save percentage and goals against average. I don’t suspect those numbers will be quite as strong all year, but I do suspect him to remain one of the top NCAA goalies.
This week Boston College beat Denver 4-3 and Massachusetts 7-0.  In those games, he made 21 and 26 save respectively. He also picked up an assist, giving him more points than a senior forward on the team.

  • Nikita Tryamkin played a pair of games this week, averaging about 16 minutes of ice time in each and taking two penalties. His average TOI suggests he is playing in the bottom-4 of his KHL team.
  • Still no word on Lukas Jasek.  Soon we will be putting his name on the side of milk cartons.

  • Anton Cederholm played in two games this week earning an assist, a +1, three shots on net and a penalty.
  • Dane Fox had a goal and an assist in a single game this week earning a -1, two shots, and a penalty.
  • Ludwig Blomstrand was seen in two games earning just one assist, a massive eight shots on net, and three penalties against.
  • Dane Fox and Evan McEneny were called up to Utica with the call-ups of Alex Biega and Brendan Gaunce. Fox only played one game and was sent back to the ECHL as the Comets signed Darren Archibald to a PTO, showing what the organization thinks of him.
