Game one in Vancouver on Wednesday night was what they call on the streets a classic. With Rogers Arena deflated and the Oiler coasting up 4-1, hope was all but lost in Vancouver. A late second-period strike from Elias Lindholm gave the Canucks a bit of life, and that’s all the club needed to get going.
JT Miller, Nikita Zadorov, and Conor Garland all scored in quick succession to cut a 4-2 third-period deficient to a 5-4 Vancouver lead, and it was pandemonium at Rogers Arena and the loudest I have ever heard the building.
Edmonton will look to exact revenge in game two but will be in tough as former Hart winner Leon Draisaitl is a game time decision.
Today’s expected goaltender matchups for our highlighted game:
The Vancouver Canucks’ Arturs Silovs (3-0-1) vs. The Edmonton Oilers’ Stuart Skinner (36-15-2)

Edmonton to score a power-play goal at -143. My $12.50 bet would return $21.25.

We can rationalize this bet two different ways. The Oilers have one of the most dynamic and proficient power plays in the history of the sport and are scoring at an over 50% rate these playoffs, including going 1-1 against the Canucks in game one.
Another way to rationalize this play is by taking out our tin foil hats and looking at the officiating crew. Kelly Sutherland gets the nod as an official tonight and has been a part of some infamous Vancouver playoff moments.
Game four of Vancouver vs San Jose, where Daniel Sedan got penalized for a hit on Tommy Wingles, which led to the Canucks elimination, and game 6 of the 2011 finals, where Sedin was given a game misconduct for being repeatedly punched by Brad Marchand, are the two main ones that come to mind.
Take this play at a full unit.

Elias Pettersson to score anytime at +220. My $10 bet would return $32.20.

Yes, I know you don’t want to hear it, but it’s simply just time. Petey played his best game of the playoffs in game one against Edmonton, historically matches up great against Stuart Skinner, and is simply just due.
Take this play at .8 units.

Quinn Hughes to register an assist at -120. My $12.5o bet would return $22.91.

Let’s bring back the wagon. Despite being held off the scoresheet in game one, Hughes has absolutely dummied the Oilers all season long, registering seven assists in their four regular-season matchups.
I love him here in this spot tonight, and will go down with a full unit.

Last Game Bets

Leon Draisaitl to register over 2.5 shots at -160. My $12.50 bet would return $20.31. – HIT
Elias Pettersson to register a point at -140. My $12.5o bet would return $21.42. – MISSED
JT Miller to register over 2.5 shots at -118. My $12.50 bet would return $23.12. – MISSED
Draisaitl hit but overall not a great night, we’re now down $22.20 on the playoffs. We stayed heavily in the green for two straight season and we’re not going down like this, we’re going to get it back and then some.
