The undefeated Canucks of only a week ago seem like a distant memory. Tonight they hope to rediscover their winning ways against the Edmonton Oilers, but in the meantime, let’s take a look at all of the less important and more entertaining things they did this week.
  • Brendan Gaunce, Chris Tanev, Jack Skille, and Alex Biega stopped by Canuck Place this week to carve pumpkins with the kids. This Chris Tanev pumpkin is legitimately unbelievable.
  • The Canucks are alway losing soccer balls. It is probably what they are best at. This video sees Jacob Markstrom using some kind of beam to retrieve a ball. Alex Edler displays a rare bit of personality and pretends to jump for it, making Brendan Gaunce laugh. Meanwhile, Luca Sbisa is returning with a ladder. As soon as Luca arrives, Markstrom’s beam method proves successful. Poor Luca.
  • A full behind-the-scenes look at the Canucks Cali road trip can be seen below. Stick around til the end to see some old pals – Ryan Kesler has not changed.
  • The Canucks’ 2016 top pick Olli Juolevi is the subject of their first prospect profile of the year. Olli seems like a nice kid. His hockey hero is a fellow Olli/e and I think he calls Patrice Bergeron “Patrick”, which is adorable.
  • Decked out in Sportchek uniforms and “Hockey Expert” name tags, Sven Baertschi and Alex Burrows helped hockey fans check out new skates, find their favourite jerseys, and save some money to get geared up for the season. Burrows also walked away from this with a customized #18 Big Country jersey. Nothing better.
  • In a special Halloween edition of King of the Rink, Brandon Sutter says that Ben Hutton’s biggest fear is women. Erik Gudbranson thinks that Hutton has dressed up as a ballerina, which is very believable.

  • Troy Stecher made his NHL debut this week and he mentioned his dog in his pre-game interview so obviously we had to find a photo of his dog. That is an amazing dog.
My mom picked me up at the airport yesterday, brought my dog. I was able to see my dog then, so that was good. via

  • And this exchange between Stecher and his mother is pretty sweet:
Tracey Stecher was at a loss for words Tuesday night, but not at a loss for her son’s replica No. 51 jerseys, which she scooped from the retail racks at Rogers Arena, along with friends and family.
“We cleared them out!” Tracey exclaimed to her son, Troy Stecher, just after he exited the Vancouver Canucks dressing room following the team’s 3-0 loss to the Ottawa Senators.
“You shouldn’t have done that, I’m changing my number,” replied the 22-year-old, who became the first born-and-raised Richmondite to suit up for the hometown National Hockey League team.
“Well then, they’ll be collector’s items,” mom quipped back.
“I can just buy more,” she added.
