Babych Please – July 3rd

If you are a Canucks fan, you have many excuses to be sad this week. It is hard to get excited about new things when the old things were so familiar and cool and taco-obsessed.
  • Over at Vancity Buzz, Wyatt Arndt wrote about why Vancouver will miss Eddie Lack’s personality so much. Wyatt pretty much nails it here. Eddie trying to call his blogger friend as he got traded is a perfect example of his affable personality and he will be missed by any Canucks fan who has a soul.
  • Enough of the sad times, though. The Canucks drafted some new children and it’s time to get to know them. Brock Boeser was chosen 23rd overall and totally looks like a guy who would be named Brock. You can get to know Brock by watching this Canucks Rapid Fire Q&A video, or you can watch this one, from the City of Burnsville, Minnesota’s Youtube page. Love that contrast between the question about burritos and the question about books.
  • Brock is also unapologetic about his love for One Direction and Gossip Girl, which is wonderful.
  • The reaction to the selection of 5th rounder Adam Gaudette by his family is everything.
Congrats on @Hockey_Gaud on getting drafted by the Vancouver Canucks pic.twitter.com/ZNZppJjuau
  • The Canucks added Matt Bartkowski, who once dressed up as Sven the reindeer from Frozen. Ok.

  • Brandon Prust was also picked up in a trade that sent Zack Kassian to Montreal. Prust will probably not make up for all of the Kassian fun, but he looks like what I assume all minor characters in Entourage look like, so he’s got that.

  • And finally, a very sad and bald Nick Bonino has pierogies on his face after losing four wisdom teeth.
