Tony Cameranesi, Dylan Blujus, Brady Brassart, Cliff Watson, Vincent Arseneau, Adam Comrie, David Dziurzynski, Marco Roy…all players currently with the Utica Comets on Professional Try-Out contracts, and you can now add Andrew Cherniwchan to that list.
Cherniwchan is a 28-year-old, undrafted, right shot, right winger who has bounced between the AHL and ECHL since the 2011/2012 season. This season, he has been playing with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, where he has put up 10 goals and nine assists in 25 games. His 10 goals were good enough to lead the Stingrays in goals at the time of this writing. Cherniwchan has spent time in the AHL split between the Springfield Falcons and the Providence Bruins for parts of the 2013/2014 through 2015/2016 seasons, playing in 134 games and picking up 17 goals and 19 assists, good for 36 points to go along with 106 minutes spent in the penalty box.
It sounds like the Comets could get Darren Archibald back soon, so it isn’t all bad news on the injury front.
The Comets get back at it today at 4:00 pm Pacific for the second half of back to back games vs the Providence Bruins after losing 5-4 in the shootout on Wednesday. CanucksArmy will have your post-game report following the game.
