As they continue to gear up for their third season in the American Hockey League, the Abbotsford Canucks have announced the schedule for their 2023 training camp in Chilliwack, BC.
The Canucks will hold their training camp at Chilliwack Coliseum, home of the BCHL’s Chilliwack Chiefs, from October 4 to 7. All four days of on-ice training camp sessions will be open for the public to attend.
“We are excited to be holding camp in Chilliwack this October,” Abbotsford Canucks general manager Ryan Johnson said in a statement released on Monday. “This is a great opportunity for our players to be in the community and for our organization to connect with our fanbase east of Abbotsford.”
The Canucks will commemorate the end of their training camp on October 7 with the “Abbotsford Canucks Minor Hockey Festival”, which will feature free activities at the arena for fans of all ages and a full-team scrimmage. Vancouver Canucks mascot Fin will also be in attendance.
The festival will also include complimentary on-ice sessions for kids aged 8–12 to develop their skills with the help of Abbotsford head coach Jeremy Colliton and other members of the Canucks’ development and alumni groups. After the festival, fans will be able to watch the Chiefs take on the Vernon Vipers in BCHL league play at 6:00 p.m. PT.
We are thrilled to partner with the Abbotsford Canucks,” Chiefs VP of business operations Barry Douglas said in a statement. “This is another fantastic opportunity for the Chilliwack Coliseum to help showcase our community. We are especially excited for the Saturday when we can celebrate hockey in the Fraser Valley.”
The Abbotsford Canucks will kick off their 2023–24 slate of games on October 13 when they visit the Laval Rocket for a back-to-back set. They’ll return to Abbotsford for their home opener against the Calgary Wranglers on October 20.
