Abbotsford Canucks begin final road trip with back-to-backs vs. Calgary

The Abbotsford Canucks hit the road to close out their season, beginning with a trip to face the Calgary Wranglers for games 69 and 70 of the 2025–26 campaign.
It hasn’t been a season filled with many bragging rights for Abbotsford — but Calgary has been the exception.
The Canucks carry a 6-2-1-1 record against their Pacific Division rivals into the weekend, giving them the edge in the season series. The margins, however, have been razor-thin. Nine of the ten meetings between the clubs have been decided by a single goal, with seven requiring overtime or a shootout.
And that trend could very well continue. This matchup isn’t exactly a clash of contenders, with the two teams separated by just two points in the standings — Calgary at 30 and Abbotsford at 32.
One of many concerns for Abbotsford this season, however, has been their play away from Rogers Forum. The Canucks have struggled on the road all season, posting just eight wins (8-20-3-1).
Game One goes Friday at 6:00 p.m. PT, with Game Two set for Saturday at 5:00 p.m. PT at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
Players to watch
Riley Patterson is expected to make his professional debut, adding another intriguing storyline. The 20-year-old recently wrapped up his junior career in the Ontario Hockey League, finishing with an impressive 84-point season (40 goals, 44 assists).
Over three junior seasons, Patterson totalled 205 points (94 goals, 111 assists) in 192 games, operating at over a point-per-game pace. With a strong 53% faceoff win rate, he could slot in at centre and potentially see meaningful minutes in the top six.
Danila Klimovich remains on the verge of franchise history. After being held off the scoresheet last weekend, he continues to sit just three goals shy of tying Linus Karlsson’s franchise record (70), with four needed to claim it outright.
Arshdeep Bains is also closing in on a milestone. Already the franchise leader in points, Bains needs just two assists to tie Christian Wolanin’s all-time assist mark (109), and three to take sole possession.
With Jiri Patera promoted to Vancouver on an emergency basis, Ty Young could see both games during this weekend’s set. While his season statistics are poor due to a suboptimal start, his play has improved significantly since rejoining the team in late February.
And once again, Bennett Schimek earns a shout from us here at CanucksArmy. The 22-year-old continues to impress, posting another two-point performance last weekend. That gives him two multi-point outings in his last three games, and seven points since joining the team in mid-March — tied for the team lead over that span.
What’s next?
The Canucks will wrap up their season with a final California trip, featuring single games against the Ontario Reign and Coachella Valley Firebirds.
