Josh Bloom returns to Abbotsford following a productive stint with the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL. Despite early-season injuries, Bloom has been a consistent presence for the Wings, playing good minutes in all situations.
He’s tallied 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) in 25 games, with nine of those points earned in the 2025 calendar year. This reassignment marks Bloom’s second chance with Abbotsford. He initially made the team out of training camp in 2023-24, appearing in 14 games and recording one assist before being reassigned to Kalamazoo before being loaned back to Junior.
He capped off his 2023-24 season with a strong run with the Saginaw Spirit, scoring the Memorial Cup-clinching goal as the Canadian Hockey League’s top team.
Bloom was brought in courtesy of a one-for-one trade for Riley Stillman in February 2023. Bloom, an Oakville, Ontario native, was drafted in the third round, 95th overall in 2021.
Ben Berard, undrafted, also joins the Abbotsford Canucks from Kalamazoo. The Duncan, BC native has appeared in 34 games for the Wings this season, scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists to sit second in Kalamazoo scoring. He also has one game of AHL experience with Abbotsford, where he scored a goal.
