Nobody saw it coming, but it’s happening: the Canucks are undefeated through four games and sit atop the NHL standings. More importantly, they love baseball and emojis.
  • The Canucks may be undefeated, but many had to overcome a loss this week when the Toronto Blue Jays were knocked out of the MLB playoffs. The Ontario-born Canucks and Jake Virtanen gushed about their favourite baseball team. I have never seen Chris Tanev smile so much. I hope he’s doing ok. Also, Ben Hutton calls Virtanen “Big Tuna”, which is a way better nickname than “Big Country”.
  • The Canucks had to guess the musical meaning behind a sequence of emojis and it went terribly. The emojis were “Don’t”, “Stop” (it literally says ‘stop’), and “Hands folded in prayer”. Burrows went with “Hand of God” and Derek Dorsett finds “Lord of the Rings”, somehow. I also love Luca Sbisa’s “Don’t…..pray?” before he starting singing “Don’t stop movin'”.

  • Bo Horvat’s teammates are pretty sure that the only things on his to-do list are a Stanley Cup parade and a wedding. And I’m not sure why Derek Dorsett is casting Liev Schreiber in the Horvat biopic when Liev was clearly born to play Cody Hodgson.
  • UBC Thunderbird Matt Hewitt’s dream came true this week when Ryan Miller wasn’t available against the Blues. Hewitt’s one day as a Canuck was a great one – he even got the chance to toss in some hockey cliches in the locker room pre-game! Adorable.
    • And it’s not Friday until we see Ben Hutton dance.
Get a big win, do a little dance!
