NHL to meet with Alex Burrows over alleged Tootoo comments

Nov 11, 2015, 19:02 ESTUpdated:
Alex Burrows will meet with the NHL on Friday to discuss his verbal exchange with New Jersey Devils forward Jordin Tootoo.
Before Tuesday’s game in Columbus, Burrows spoke with the media, saying that he did not think he had “crossed the line”. Burrows also implied that he’s been on the receiving end of the type of comments he made to Tootoo.
While it’s unknown what exactly Burrows’ remarks were in reference to, Tootoo stated that they were “personal” and directed at his family. Tootoo’s older brother committed suicide in 2002 and in 2010, Jordin successfully completed the NHL/NHLPA’s Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program. Tootoo has also been outspoken about racist comments that he has faced on the ice.
Burrows’ meeting will take place Friday as the Canucks will already be in Toronto ahead of Saturday’s game against the Maple Leafs.
