WWYDW: Jacob Trouba.

Well, it doesn’t sound like Jacob Trouba will sticking around Winnipeg much longer. According to multiple reports this Sunday, the disgruntled, unsigned defenceman has demanded a trade from the Jets. Apparently, that request goes as far back as May, too.
Trouba, 22, just finished his entry-level contract and will need to be signed by whichever team acquires his rights. I’ve heard an assortment of different numbers regarding annual average value, but the overarching theme is that he’s going to want more than $6-million per season. Which, frankly, is about the going rate for a defenceman of Trouba’s calibre.
So, knowing what it will cost to sign Trouba, what would you package to acquire him from the Jets? Conversely, why wouldn’t you trade for Trouba? Try to be realistic. Luca Sbisa and Jannik Hansen isn’t making it happen.
Last week I asked: Now, based on what you’ve heard and what you’ve seen from the weekend’s events, who among the invites do you think is worthy of a contract or an invite to the Canucks main training camp? I’m particular to Kyle Maksimovich. And you?
Nick:
Curtis Valk. He’s suffered enough in the ECHL.
TrueBlue:
Alex D’Aoust looked like he had a lot of potential, but not all of the bounces went his way on the scoresheet. I like him because he didn’t make any defensive mistakes, was tenacious after the puck when he didn’t have it, and also looked very comfortable passing and carrying the puck.
I did like Roy too and if they’re inclined to invite a couple of players then I would add him to the list, but he seemed like more of the typical sparkplug who generates a lot of action because of his speed and the fact that he would fly into any situation. I do like the speed, but I’m not sure he would be effective at a higher level. A couple of better placed passes and less hesitation from puck-carriers would have nullified a lot of his effectiveness. Still, he did generate enough buzz to warrant some consideration.
I didn’t mind what I saw of Moynihan either, but it just didn’t feel like enough, and I guess if you can’t show more in a prospects tournament like that, then it would really be taking a flyer to invite him to main camp.

Bring most of the kids to camp. give them a shot get then some experience with the vets and earn ther way in ahl or echl few extra good young players never hurt a team.
apr:
I like the idea of bringing in Roy, and signing him if does well. I feel like we got an extra second round pick prospect in addition to third round pick prospect with him and Plant.
Chris the Curmudgeon:
D’Aoust looked like a potential long term project, but maybe a worthwhile one. Marco Roy looked pretty decent out there but he’s also one of the older players, if I’m not mistaken, and that would definitely dampen enthusiasm about him.
Jyrki21:
It’s a shame that Jackson Whistle wasn’t there for this year’s edition – I hear they’re just about set to release a new album.
