Welcome back to WDYTT, the only hockey column on the internet that wears our alternates as much as we do our regulars.
The Vancouver Canucks’ reverse retro jersey hit the market this week, sparking a rather spritely discussion across various social media platforms.
Some love them, some hate them, some can’t look at them without getting thirsty. Fortunately, all can agree that, at the very least, they look better than Edmonton’s and are far more original than Calgary’s.
With jerseys on the mind, we’ve got a fairly simple question for you all to ponder this week.
We just want to know:

What is your all-time favourite Canucks jersey?

(Feel free to slap a name and number on it, if you feel like it!)

Who should be the next person inducted into the Ring of Honour?

Your responses are below!
Sandpaper:
Andre Boudrias, Bobby Lalonde, and Gary Lupul.
J-Canuck:
The Ring is getting quite large. Just put in the 2011 team and leave it at that.
Derek13:
Darcy Rota, for one, and Dennis Kearns. Kearns played nearly 700 games for the Canucks, currently 10th all-time. The nine ahead of him are either in the Ring or have their jerseys retired. He played through some lean years, but was always reliable, if not ever being confused with being flashy. Averaged close to .5pt/gm. I love Gino and everything he brought, but I think there are more deserving players on the list ahead of him.
chris16w:
Leave it as is for the time being. If you add Gino, why not also a myriad of others, such as Donald Brashear?
Alex G:
The ROH is supposed to commemorate retired individuals that made an impact with the franchise (other than players whom have had their jerseys retired).
IMO, the three most impactful players that aren’t already there have some controversy attached to them: Bertuzzi, Luongo, and Kesler (with honourable mention to some D-men: Snepts, Kearns, and Lidster). Despite that, IMO, one day all three should get there. However, it’s only been one year since the last induction (Burrows), and if you add too many players too often, the “honour” gets devalued. I say wait another year or three to add someone.
UKCanuck:
Edler should be next but not until a couple years after he retires. No Bert, no Lou, no Kes.
Beer Can Boyd:
Gino is a great guy and a wonderful Canuck, but this is the Ring of Honour, and should have extremely high standards. Lots of borderliners, and I don’t think Gino is even in that group. Kearns, Boudrias, Brodeur, Lumme, Tanti, Kesler, Bieksa, Luongo (just don’t dare retire his #!) are all considerations, but ultimately, I think I agree with waiting a few years, then putting Eddie up there.
Nucker:
Maybe they can find an alternate way of honouring Gino in the arena. A statue (for photo ops) or naming an area of the arena, we could find some way.
Reme:
It is my believe that the Ring of Honour is for players who were good for the community, while the rafters were for exceptional players. I don’t think it matters how much impact the player had on the team for them to be in the ring, but how Canuck Nation feels about them. Therefore, I would open a space for Gino. He has done so much for the Vancouver community, especially how he is viewed in the first nations communities.
Gino’s 3rd Cousin:

My sentimental choice is definitely number 29. I remember meeting him when I was a kid and remember how massive he seemed to me. I still don’t think I’ve ever seen mitts as big as his. Gino and Bure were my favourite Canucks and I think he played a big part in Bure’s success and adjustment to a new country. In a past life, I used to throw dance parties at a space in Vancouver and Gino showed up one night. The whole room broke out into the “Gino, Gino, Gino” chant. It was one of my professional highlights.
He has had a lasting impact on the Indigenous community and I think the entire fanbase really embraced him as well. I understand the arguments for keeping him out of ROH, but I think the choice comes down to more than stats. Just based on heart and soul, he is my pick.
Jabs:
The qualifications are players who made a lasting impact on the franchise. To me, this means players who have done one or more of; had a long career with the Canucks, contribute to alumni events and Canucks Place, or show up for special nights. This doesn’t automatically mean the highest scorers; rather, it is the players who have received legendary status.
I think there are lot of guys who can attest to this.
I can see Gino Odjick high on the list. He was the toughest player to ever be a Canuck, fans still love him, he shows up to events…. put the man in the ROH already!!!!!!
Another similar player from a different era is Garth Butcher. I love Garth and tried to play like him as a teenager. Maybe not the best idea for me, but Garth made opposing players fear him and he is also very loved by fans. Garth meets all of my criteria. With over 600 games as a Canuck…put him in the ROH.
OK, here is my last choice… Roberto Luongo. The stats leader for most goaltending categories. Some think his number will be retired, I don’t. He does deserve recognition as the best goalie to ever play for the Canucks in their 50-year existence. Things kind of went south at the end, but they did with Naslund and Bure as well, and they still git their numbers retired, so Luongo should be honoured for all he did for this team and remains doing this day.
