Vancouver Canucks Release Prospect Tournament Roster

The Vancouver Canucks have released their roster for the 2015 Young Stars tournament in Penticton, ending months of nail-biting anticipation for some pf your least favourite bloggers! There’s a couple of familiar faces, along with some less-than-familiar ones to boot.
Catch you on the other side of jump, to break it all down.
As per the Vancouver Canucks press release, the roster will include some 24 players. Jeff Paterson tweeted the roster, which includes four prospects from the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
The attached image is difficult to make out, but the Canucks offer a full-size, bordering on legible version on their website.
Hunter Shinkaruk – Jared McCann – Jake Virtanen
Mike Zalewski – Cole Cassels – Dane Fox
Brendan Gaunce – Kyle Pettit – Dimitri Zhukenov
MacKenze Stewart – Joe Labate – Rodrigo Abols
Ben Hutton – Guillaume Brisebois
Jordan Subban – Anton Cederholm
Evan McEneny – Ashton Sautner
Jackson Whistle, Clay Witt
Extras: Reid Gardiner, Tate Olson, Carl Neill
It’s a formidable list of prospects, which includes about six players that have already seen a seasons worth of action in professional hockey – from the KHL all the way back to the ECHL. Interestingly enough, the list doesn’t include the Canucks first-round pick from the last draft, Brock Boeser. Although, this much I would chalk up to his commitment to joining the University of North Dakota. In general, prospects that opting for college route don’t take the most expedited path to the NHL, so it’s not overly surprising all things considered.
Along with releasing the roster for this year’s tournament, the Canucks also revealed a detailed schedule which now includes their practice regimen for the course of the tournament.
The schedule makes for what should be a very entertaining weekend for everyone lucky enough to make the trek to the beautiful Okanagan. While the Canucks may lack the high-end talent of some of the competitors they will face, the depth of their stable is solid and presents considerable upside when looked at in a vacuum.
I, for one, can’t wait.
