@Vancouver Canucks defenceman @Quinn Hughes has been named the league’s rookie of the month for February.
Hughes led all rookies in scoring posting 15 points in 13 games played sharing the overall lead in assists, with 13.
Both goals came in a 4-3 overtime win against the New York Islanders on Feb. 1 — the first multi-goal game of his career. He posted a three-assist night in a 6-2 win over the Nashville Predators on Feb. 10 becoming the second rookie rearguard in league history to record four three-assist games in a season.
The only other defenceman to do so was Ray Bourque, who posted four in 1979-80.
