The Vancouver Canucks will not have any representatives at this year’s NCAA Frozen Four in Las Vegas.
Both Anthony Romani and Matthew Lansing saw their freshman seasons come to an end on Saturday after losses in their respective regional finals.
In the Worcester region, Romani and the Michigan State Spartans took on the Wisconsin Badgers in the early game.
After Wisconsin opened the scoring, Michigan State responded with three straight goals to take a 3-1 lead with just over five minutes remaining in regulation.
Romani picked up an assist on the Spartans’ opening goal, finding Gavin O’Connell, who capitalized on a fortunate bounce off the goaltender’s shoulder.
But what looked like a comfortable finish and ticket to Vegas quickly unravelled. The Spartans surrendered two goals in roughly 30 seconds late in the third period, stunning the bench and forcing overtime. Just 24 seconds into the extra frame, Wisconsin completed the comeback, delivering the game-winner and punching its ticket to the Frozen Four.
Romani wraps up a strong freshman campaign with 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 38 games, finishing fifth on the team and sixth among conference freshmen.
The Ontario native now faces a decision on his next step, whether that’s at the pro or NCAA level. Returning to Michigan State would likely come with an increased role in the Spartans’ top six next season.
Meanwhile, Quinnipiac faced North Dakota in the Sioux Falls Regional Final.
Unfortunately for Lansing and the Bobcats, the game was one-sided, as North Dakota skated to a flawless 5-0 victory to advance to the Frozen Four.
Lansing closes out a solid freshman season, particularly given his usage in a bottom-six role. He recorded 18 points (eight goals, 10 assists) in 40 games and is expected to return to Quinnipiac for his sophomore campaign.
With that, all six Vancouver Canucks NCAA prospects have officially wrapped up their 2025–26 seasons.
