Penticton, BC — Ahead of their Team Blue vs. Team White scrimmage on the final day of training camp from the South Okanagan Events Centre, the Vancouver Canucks did some special teams work, giving us our first look at the units they’ll roll into the preseason with.
Now, because they have such a big group and a busy preseason, we will likely see these units for games in the preseason. It’s up to you how you want to choose how to read into these, and where you think there are jobs to be had and which players are truly auditioning for jobs. We’ve typed these in the order they lined up, with the net front player listed at the top.

A question we got asked a lot in the mailbag yesterday was if the Canucks seemed to be focusing on moving around more while on the power play. I answered that question by saying we wouldn’t really know until we at least saw them put out their power play units, and today, they seemed to be putting an emphasis on getting to the net once point shots were taken.
Last year, Tocchet repeatedly talked about the Canucks’ power play needing to get to the net and bury rebounds off of shots into traffic.
The Canucks have a busy week ahead, with four games in five nights starting on Tuesday when the Seattle Kraken visit Rogers Arena to open the preseason. The Canucks will then play in Abbotsford against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday, visit Seattle on Friday, then meet the Flames once again on Saturday before closing out their preseason with games against the Edmonton Oilers on September 30th and October 4th.
The Canucks play their first regular season game on Wednesday, October 9th for their home opener against the Calgary Flames.
