The day is finally here.
Unless the Canucks called a Thursday afternoon press conference at Rogers Arena to tell media in person that they won’t be announcing their new management group until sometime next week, it would appear that the club is finally ready to unveil their new front office group, led by Daniel and Henrik Sedin, along with Ryan Johnson.
That’s what a press release sent out on Thursday morning suggests, though the release itself wasn’t an announcement of the new hockey ops department. All it read was: “The Vancouver Canucks will conduct a media availability for a major announcement today at approximately 1:00pm PT at Rogers Arena.” Mysterious!
The big question everyone wants answered is exactly who will do what, and how the duties will be split among the three men expected to speak today. According to CHEK TV’s Rick Dhaliwal, the Sedins will be co-presidents of hockey operations, with Johnson serving as the GM.

Danila Klimovich not headed for KHL, says agent

On Thursday morning, a report online emerged that Abbotsford Canucks forward Danila Klimovich was headed for the KHL, and that he was close to signing a two-year deal with CSKA.
Via a text conversation, Klimovich’s agent, Dan Milstein, poured cold water on the report.
“False. KHL is not being considered at this time at all,” Milstein told CanucksArmy.
As we’ve noted previously, Klimovich is a restricted free agent this offseason and will need a new contract if he’s going to remain a Canuck next season..
The Canucks originally drafted Klimovich with the 41st overall pick in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. Klimovich, who turned 23 back in January, has played 281 regular-season games with the Abbotsford Canucks, but has yet to make his NHL debut with Vancouver.
