The Vancouver Canucks have just one preseason game remaining before the regular season. They boast a 2-2-1 record after dropping Monday night’s contest against the Edmonton Oilers, 3-2 in a shootout. It was a great effort from the kids, considering who they were going up against.
One thing that Canucks fans have been monitoring is the status of JT Miller or the lack of status rather. He was supposed to play in the preseason opener against the Seattle Kraken; however, he missed the game and has yet to suit up.
Chek TV’s Don Taylor and Rick Dhaliwal discussed what’s going on regarding the Canucks’ leading scorer last season.
DT: “Why isn’t JT Miller playing any games? He’s supposed to play Friday. It seems strange that a star player, like JT Miller, would play zero preseason games.”
RD: “Obviously, some people think he’s banged up a little. Nothing major.”
DT: “What do you think?”
RD: “Well, I hear there might be a small ailment, but nothing major. Look what happened to Drew Doughty. Look what happened to Patrik Laine. Even [David] Reinbacher he’s out [for] five-six months. Are there too many preseason games, Don? Should it just be for young kids? Guys like JT Miller doesn’t need to make the team. I have no issues with him out.”
DT: “Well, you still want to get ready for game action.”
RD: “He’s at every practice at UBC. Every practice at UBC is being video tapes, you’re seeing him on the ice. There’s fans at the practice, I don’t see anything alarming. It is interesting. Is it a small ailment? Probably. Are you worried? No. Does he have to make the team? No. I don’t have any issues with it.”
DT: “And lucky for the Canucks, they’ve got the big break between yesterdays game and Friday. And between Friday and the season opener. So if it is a minor ailment, there’s time to heal.”
RD: “There’s time to heal; he’ll be fine. He’s going to play Friday. JT Miller is the least of my concerns about this hockey club.”
Miller will have just one opportunity to suit up before the real hockey starts on October 9th against the Calgary Flames.
