Jake Virtanen is the latest member of the Vancouver Canucks to join the COVID-19 protocol list.
The forward was the only player added to the list Tuesday afternoon from the team and brings the total to 18 of 22 roster players to be added to the list.
The list, however, doesn’t include taxi squad players or team staff, of which there’s believed to be multiple of in protocols, too.
According to multiple reports, the P.1 Brazilian variant is believed to be involved in the Canucks’ outbreak. The team, nor the league, have commented on the outbreak publicly beyond the league stating its belief in that the Canucks didn’t violate any rules surrounding COVID-19.
The Elisa steak house on Hamilton St. in Yaletown, owned by the Aquilini family, was closed Monday, according to the CBC. In their report, Vancouver Coastal Health had issued a closure order for the restaurant due to “communicable disease.”
“Individuals who were at this premises who tested positive for COVID-19 were in this establishment during their infectious period and may have infected other staff and patrons with COVID-19,” read a VCH notice posted on the doors of the the restaurant. “Based on the number of cases currently under investigation, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority suspects that transmission may be occurring at this establishment.”
