Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko has been named the NHL’s first start of the week.
Demko, 26, started four games last week for the Canucks posting a 4-0 record, a 1.20 GAA and an impressive .962 save percentage.
The four wins all came under new head coach Bruce Boudreau, who has seemingly turned the Canucks around in very short order.
Demko earned his second NHL shutout in a 4-0 win over the LA Kings on Dec, 6, then won games in back-to-back shootouts 2-1 over the Boston Bruins on the 8th, then the Winnipeg Jets on the 10th.
He capped the week off with a 28 save performance in a 2-1 win over the visiting Carolina Hurricanes.
